"A.S.I.A. is the study association for the Master Asian Studies. In this capacity it aims to connect and represent the students of the Master through the organization of social, cultural, educational, and career-related activities. It strives to function as the binding force at the heart of the program, fostering contact between students, teachers, and the academic world"

Meet some of Asia's members

Lan Xin Wei
I came up with the idea of creating this association during the covid period as I noticed that there weren't a lot of activities for us MA Asian Studies students. As such, I recruited people to help me build A.S.I.A. in the hope we could bring the students and professors together. I hope we, and the ongoing boards, will achieve this. And, I am so proud of all that we and the current board already have accomplished. 

Lan Xin is the founding president of A.S.I.A. and part of the East Asian Studies track. She started the association with the help of Xin Yi Hu and Jorren van Teijlingen.

Aurora E. L. Turkenburg (06-dec-1997)
Aurora joined ASIA in 2022-2023 as a student of the Master Asian Studies history, arts and culture track. She likes drinking Fristi on nights out. She also designed this website!

I look forward to meeting more likeminded Asian-experts-in-the-making during my final year at Leiden! It has been an honor to create the Asian Studies International Association website, and I hope that it will be useful in gaining a ton of new members soon.
